Did you know that today 1 in 88 children will be diagnosed with autism, 1 in 54 of those will be boys. Early diagnoses and intervention is the key to an autistic child’s success. That intervention can be very expensive. Ben Dodge’s son, William, is autistic. They have seen him make great strides since he started attending SARRC, the Southwest Autism Research and Resource Center, in Phoenix.
Seeing the great need to help William and other children like him with autism, Ben Dodge and Bacho Vega formed I Can Do Hard Things, Inc., a non-profit organization. This organization, already supported by many volunteers, is dedicated to raising awareness of the autism epidemic and funding for scholarships for children to have access to autism services like SARRC, AZA United and others. In April 2013, during Autism Awareness Month, I Can Do Hard Things, Inc. will proudly launch “No Boundaries,” a more than 2000 mile journey to shatter the limits of autism. Ben and Bacho will run and cycle from Canada to Mexico, then head east to finish in Phoenix, Arizona.
On July 28, 2012 No Boundaries will hold our first fundraiser at CrossFit Preferred (3244 E. Guadalupe, Ste 101, Gilbert, AZ 85234) from 7:00 to 10:00 am. Please join us for a family fun morning with a bounce house, Gilbert Fire Department fire truck, vendors, kids obstacle course, other carnival style games, shave ice and popcorn, breakfast, car wash and William’s WOD, a CrossFit workout of the day competition. All profits will go directly to our non-profit organization dedicated to helping children with autism attain the therapy they need.
We invite you to join the journey by visiting our website at www.icandohardthings.org. You can follow us on facebook at I Can Do Hard Things and on twitter @icdht_org or text “NOBO” to 55678 for updates on the journey. Together we can shatter the limits of autism and help change lives.
